iPhone in easy steps

Since its launch in 2007, the iPhone has totally changed the way we view cellular phones. Through its touch screen this phone has the capabilities of a small computer, being able to watch photo slides shows, high resolution movies, listen to music, browse the web, send email, send messages using all popular messaging applications. In fact, with the release of iPhone software v3.0 the iPhone has become even more impressive with a huge range of new features requested by users.

In addition, it can be used as a cell phone - and a great cell phone it is too! No more listening to several voicemails until you reach the one you want. The iPhone has visual voicemail so you can go straight to the message you want to hear.

But to those of us more used to standard cell phones, the iPhone's sheer range of options and add-on software can appear daunting. You want to get the most from your iPhone but the leaflet that comes with the iPhone leaves a great deal to the imagination! Of course, you can play around with settings and maybe you will achieve what you want, but more often than not, you will make things more difficult.

Drew Provan is currently Senior Lecturer in Hematology at Bart's & The London School of Medicine and Dentistry. He studied molecular genetics before going on to study medicine. After junior medical posts he undertook research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston in 1993-4.

He enjoys writing and editing books and has been involved in the production of a number of medical textbooks. He also lectures regularly both nationally and internationally to varied audiences, including medical and biomedical science students, scientists, pharmaceutical companies and others.
